The Department of Applied Mechanics at IIT Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Applied Mechanics (ISAM), organized a one-day workshop on the Engineering and Computational Mechanics (ECM) BTech program. The event took place on Monday, 8th July 2024, at the IIT Delhi campus.

The workshop aimed to:

  • Share the motivation behind launching the ECM program in 2020 at IIT Delhi, and its subsequent adoption at NIT Jamshedpur and MNNIT Allahabad.
  • Present insights and experiences from the first graduating batch at IIT Delhi.
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration among faculty, researchers, and professionals from academia, national laboratories, public sector units (PSUs), and industry.

Prof. T. G. Sitharam (Chairperson, AICTE) graced the event as the chief guest. The workshop brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including:

  • faculty and students from IIT Delhi (Applied Mechanics), NIT Jamshedpur (Mechanical), and MNNIT Allahabad (Applied Mechanics).
  • faculty members from IIT Mandi, IIT Madras (Applied Mechanics), NIT Raipur (Mechanical), MANIT Bhopal (Mechanical), and Shiv Nadar University (Civil and Mechanical).
  • Scientists from DRDO laboratories, Engineers India Limited (EIL), and Havells Research.

The event provided a valuable platform for discussions on curriculum development, industry expectations, and future directions for the ECM program.
